Fall Fun in Hampton:

1. Take a brisk walk on the beach at Buckroe Beach

The water may be cold without a wetsuit this time of year, but its expansive and beautiful views are in season year-round. The pier at Buckroe Beach frames a sunrise perfectly, dolphins can be seen at play, and the sea breeze is a breath of fresh air. Kick off your shoes and take a mental break as you stroll the sand.

2. Toast the Coast at local breweries and cidery

This fall, find your favorite craft beverages at our local breweries. Download the Toast the Coast Mobile pass, and check in at the different locations for special discounts. Each brewery releases new beers and ciders monthly, so there’s always something new on tap for you to taste.

Vanguard Brewpub & Distillery has a delicious Pumpkin Creamsicle on tap, 1865 Brewing has an Apple Cinnamon Belgian Saison, and Oozlefinch Beers & Blending’s Daknaphobia is the perfect sour for fall, with blackberry, raspberry, cranberry, boysenberry puree and vanilla.

3. Self-guided walking tour at Fort Monroe

As the largest stone fort in America, walk around and explore Fort Monroe‘s 63 acres at your leisure. Learn about the fort’s history from its completion in 1834 to 2011 when it became an official National Monument. When you’re done exploring, stop at Firehouse Coffee for a fall treat!

4. Visit the Animals at Bluebird Gap Farm

Goats, cows, and turtles, oh my! The animals at Bluebird Gap Farm are patiently waiting to greet you. With a large variety of animals and beautiful landscaping, Bluebird Gap Farm is perfect for a family outing and spending time outdoors during the fall season.

5. Taste everything pumpkin spice

Pumpkin spice and everything nice! There’s no such thing as too much pumpkin this time of the year. Create a bucket list to try all the fall flavors in Hampton, and check them off before the end of fall! Make sure to include pumpkin and apple cider donuts from Glazed Doughnuts, pumpkin crumb cake from Scratch Bakery, and a pumpkin butter cold brew from Fika Coffeeshop and Cafe

6. Snap some pics at Sandy Bottom Nature Park

Fall is the perfect time of the year for photography, whether its a celebratory occasion or just while on a hike! Nature and fall colors at Sandy Bottom Nature Park make the best backdrop. Check out the fall colors tracker to see when Hampton will be at peak fall colors, so you can plan the best time for your photo shoot on one of the park’s 11 different trail systems.

7. Dine al fresco

Hampton’s waterside location makes it the perfect destination for dining outdoors. Savor fresh seafood with Chesapeake Bay views on the patio at The Deadrise, or overlook the Hampton River with beers & pub snacks at Bull Island Brewing. Head a few blocks inland to Queen’s Way in Downtown Hampton, where the restaurants have turned the street into a ‘streatery’. Now that the summer temps are gone, enjoy a good meal outside in the pleasant sunshine!

8. Walk along the Waterwalk Path

Grab your favorite fall beverage from Hampton’s local coffee shops, and a fall jacket to explore the Waterwalk Path. Beginning at Air Power Park and ending at Powerplant, this 4.5-mile, out-and-back walk makes for an enjoyable fall adventure.
