JAMES T. WILSON FISHING PIER

James T. Wilson Fishing Pier, located just down from Buckroe Beach’s bay-front park, is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week through the fishing season. The helpful pier staff is eager to share info about the fish that are biting and the best bait to use. With on-site parking, two covered shelters midway, two fish-cleaning stations, clean restrooms, snack bar, and bait and tackle shop, the well-lit James T. Wilson Fishing Pier has everything you will need for a fantastic day of fishing. If you’re without a rod and reel, you can rent tackle for $10 per day ($40 deposit required) and ice is available for your catch. A license is not needed to fish the pier but if you have a current Virginia Saltwater Fishing License then you will receive $2 off adult admission. Children are encouraged to join in the fun, but youth ages 14 & under must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Pier admission fees per 24-hour period from 6 a.m.-6 a.m. (if paid at 3 p.m. your admission fee is good until 6 a.m. the next day) are Adult $8, Senior (62+) $6, Children (10 & under) $6. Monthly pass $60; Seasonal pass for April through Oct. is $250; Non-fishing visitor $4; Sightseeing adult $1; Sightseeing child 50 cents. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted, nor are styrofoam coolers or glass items. James T. Wilson Fishing Pier reserves the right to check all coolers.
