Haunted Screams Expo

Virginia’s most innovative and exciting fan event, the annual Haunted Screams Expo horror convention kicks off the Halloween season. The two-day horror and Halloween-themed fan convention, brings together celebrities and creators of many of your favorite movies and TV shows with dozens of talented artists and exhibitors presenting unique works and collectibles celebrating fandom in a safe, family-friendly environment where fans can meet their heroes and mingle with likeminded new friends. It is also where the world’s most famous monsters come to life.
Ghost Walk at Fort Monroe

Join us for a walking tour to explore some of the unexplainable phenomenon surrounding historic Fort Monroe. The Ghost Walk at Fort Monroe is back again and sharing the haunting tales that accompany the very real history of Fort Monroe. This year we will explore buildings, structures, and the real life history of some of Fort Monroe’s lesser known people as we share with you some recently discovered real life stories and of course some of our traditional haunting tales!
A true tragic romance, a mysterious bike ride, and other odd tales from residents are just a few of the mysterious stories you will experience when you join us for this year’s Ghost Walk at Fort Monroe, Where History Meets Mystery.
Hampton Horror Tours
October 26 & 29 – 31, 2024 at Hampton History Museum
Our Horror Tours are back to bring tales of mystery and the macabre to the streets of Hampton…and with more fun and fright than ever before! Even if you’ve been a regular on our Horror Tours in the past, you won’t want to miss their reincarnation!
There are new stories, new personages to meet from the mists of time and plenty of surprises in store! Leaving from the museum, these 60-minute tours include eerie tales of old Hampton and the Coastal Virginia area. Each tour will include the grisly side of Hampton history, the spooky St. John’s Church graveyard, and other points of fright along Queen Street and around Downtown Hampton.

Oct. 26, 2024: Hocus Pocus Movie & Costume Competition
Come Dressed as YOUR FAVORITE spooky character and win! HOCUS POCUS follows a villainous comedic trio of witches (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy) who are inadvertently resurrected by a teenage boy (Omri Katz) in Salem, Massachusetts, on Halloween night – a super fun afternoon for all! Best Costume Awards following the movie! Presented by Hampton Arts Education.
Oct. 31, 2024: Rocky Horror Picture Show Film & Live Shadow Cast
Let’s Get Insane and Do The “Time Warp” Again! Grab your fishnets, and pelvic thrust your way to The American Theatre’s annual creature feature presentation of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” featuring a live shadow cast performance by Fishnet Inc.! Audiences time warp back to the 1970s and shimmy the night away to the voices of Magenta, Dr. Frank-N-Furter & Riff Raff on the Theatre’s silver screen. Dust off your gold sequin top hat for some harmless, musical fun — a delightful spoof of Hollywood horror movies and Old Dark House melodramas!
El Dia De Los Muertos
Nov. 2, 2024 at The Charles H Taylor Visual Arts Center
This free event includes a traditional colored straw demonstration by Cesar Carbajal as well as the preparation of an altar where members of the community can share a prayer, light a candle, or bring a memento to place as an offering for loved ones. Craft stations include making paper marigolds, Day of the Dead masks, and creating papel picado. Food trucks and VMFA On the Road Artmobile will be onsite.
