Bookstores throughout Hampton Roads have come together to celebrate Independent Bookstore Day (IBD) with a Hampton Roads Bookstore Crawl made for book lovers and readers of all ages! Fifteen local indie booksellers are collaborating on this year’s #hrvalovesindiebookstores crawl, which encourages book loving folks to participate in bookstore tourism by visiting as many bookstores as you can in one week.

The crawl runs from April 19-27 during the week leading up to Independent Bookstore Day, which is a one-day national party celebrating indie bookstores on the last Saturday in April. Each store creates its own unique events on the day of IBD and the week prior!

How does it work? When readers arrive at their first bookstore of the week, they will receive a passport with all participating locations listed on the back (including addresses and store hours). And then they’re on their way – getting stamps from any shop visited, taking selfies, and tagging their photos with #hrvalovesindiebookstores along the way. At the end of their journey, they simply leave their completed passport at the last bookstore visited.
