An Evening with Ben Jealous

March 6, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Ben Jealous, a prominent civil rights leader, is coming to the American Theatre to give a free lecture and book signing featuring his book Never Forget Our People Were Always Free.

Jealous has devoted his life and career, including his tenure as President of the NAACP, to ending injustice and racism by strengthening the bonds among Americans of all races, creeds, colors, and political ideologies. In his book, Jealous draws inspiring lessons and hope for restoring the country’s strength and unity from stories of his ancestors, both black and white, as well as his pathbreaking partnerships with conservative leaders and Republican governors, including Jack Kemp, Newt Gingrich, and Bob McDonnell.

This event is free and open to the public and will be hosted by the Fort Monroe Historical Society and the Contraband Historical Society.
