
Public invited to attend Homegoing Services for Dr. Katherine Johnson
The public is invited to attend Homegoing Services for Dr. Katherine G. Johnson on March 6 and March 7. Dr. Johnson, a pioneering American icon, was a groundbreaking mathematician at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton whose calculations of orbital mechanics were critical to the success of the first and subsequent U.S. crewed spaceflights. Her accomplishments were documented in the 2016 movie “Hidden Figures.” Dr. Johnson died on February 24, 2020 at the age of 101.
