
Looking Back at 2021 in Hampton
2021 brought growth, new businesses, and exciting new projects to Hampton. From new coffee shops to the groundbreaking for a new Aquaplex that will open in summer 2022, Hampton continues to grow and create new experiences for visitors and residents. Here are some of the exciting and new developments in Hampton in 2021. Make sure to add all these locations to your new year bucket lists!
Buckroe Beach Improvements 
Before the 2021 beach season kicked off, The Buckroe Beach Boardwalk got some fun and functional new additions. Swings, chairs, bike racks, and more were added for everyone to use during their beach visit.
Hampton Virginia Aquaplex Groundbreaking
The Hampton Virginia Aquaplex broke ground in April and was celebrated in July. The aquaplex will be open for everyone to use at the end of summer 2022. This exciting new improvement to Hampton will give kids of all ages a place to splash, and learn important swimming skills.
New to Phoebus
1865 Brewing Company Opened 
As the first black-owned brewery in our region, 1865 made history when it officially opened in July. As a coffee shop, and brewery they offer something for visitors to enjoy all day long. Spend your morning finishing work, and your evening celebrating with friends.
Scratch Bakery Moved to a New location
Expanding to a larger location, Scratch Bakery had more space for more treats. Adding coffee to their menu, and a larger breakfast menu, Phoebus now has a new location for visitors to pick up a quick breakfast.
New to Downtown Hampton
In 2021, Downtown Hampton saw lots of growth with new businesses, the Landing at Hampton Marina hotel re-opening, and a new form of transportation to get you from point A to point B. Make sure to visit these new businesses and ride the scooters next time you are in Downtown Hampton
Fika Coffeehouse and Cafe
The simple things in life, like sharing coffee with friends, Fika is a place for everyone to gather. Opening on Queens Way in August, this quaint coffee shop offers coffee, treats, lunch, alcoholic beverages, and a welcoming atmosphere.
Guilty Pleasure Coffee Shop
A new coffee shop with a guilty twist. Along with coffee and tea, they also offer specialty milkshakes and ice cream flights to keep you cool during the dog days of summer.
Less Than 
As a zero-waste and refill store, Less Than helps to keep Hampton a clean and sustainable city. Stop in to refill soap, laundry detergent, shampoo, and more. Their store has something for everyone.
The Landing at Hampton Marina, Tapestry Collection by Hilton 
After being remodeled, the Landing hotel re-opened with a modern and cozy feel. Visitors to Hampton can enjoy water views, walk to local restaurants, and explore Hampton easily.
Monroe Rooftop Lounge
With the added Monroe Rooftop Bar to the Landing at Hampton Marina hotel, visitors can also enjoy cocktails with a gorgeous view of Hampton harbor. The perfect ending to a perfect day.
Lime Scooters
In September a pilot program was launched for Lime scooters. Since then, visitors have had the opportunity to travel around the city with ease. Located in both Downtown Hampton and Phoebus they create a new form of transportation for all visitors and residents to use.
Deep Roots Greenery
A store for all the plant lovers. Step inside, and enjoy the refreshing sites and smells of luscious green plants. Re-pot your favorite plant, or find a new one to add to your collection.
