Fun-filled Arts & Entertainment Series Coming this Summer


Get ready to spark your creative and artistic juices with ‘A Splash of the Arts!’ Hampton City Schools is offering a free arts and entertainment series through Arts for Learning, the Virginia Affiliate of Young Audiences. Arts for Learning Virginia is the leading provider of quality arts-in-education programming in Virginia. Families with school-age children can participate in activities and enjoy performances in music, art, theater, storytelling, dance, and more. With the support of the Hampton History Museum and Downtown Hampton Development Partnership, the series will occur on Saturdays from July 9, 16, 23 and 30. 

Attendees can  participate in yoga-like workshops by Joppa Whitehead on July 9, July 23 and July 30. Whitehead is a dancer and dance instructor trained in ballet who has been a part of the Todd Rosenlieb Dance Company since 2009. Other notable instructors and performers include the Rainbow Puppets (July 9), Via Goode (July 9 and July 30), Mosaic Steel Orchestra  (July 16 and July 30), Rita Cohen (July 23 and July 30), Stephanie Lask (July 23 and July 30), Swirl (July 30), Nathan Richardson (July 30), as well as others. Additionally, this diverse series will span art forms from Africa, Japan, the Caribbean, Europe, South America and North America. The series will be held at the Hampton History Museum as well as Mill Point Park from 10:00a.m.-4:00p.m.
