Join Fort Monroe and the National Park Service on September 18 from 10AM – 4PM, in commemorating the 10-year anniversary of the transfer of Fort Monroe from the Department of the Army to the Commonwealth of Virginia, in conjunction with Smithsonian Museum Day! Visitors can Experience America through family friendly programming that will focus on the 188-year legacy of education that lives on at Fort Monroe.

Come and explore the Casemate Museum’s artifact and archival collections and hear how new interpretive perspectives are being explored. The day will include living history interpreters, interactive booths, and food vendors.

Beginning at 1:00 p.m. there will be a special tribute to Fort Monroe’s past, present and future with live music by the Training and Doctrine Command Band and a flag raising over the ramparts.
