Special Event: Contraband Commemoration Living History Walking Tours

FreeLiving Historians will explore the legacy of events surrounding the “Contraband Decision” of 1861, the beginning of the end of slavery in the US. Join us to commemorate the 161st anniversary of this landmark decision and the impact on the development of the United States. Attendees will interact with historical figures such as United States Colored Troops, Tuskegee Airman, and Harriet Tubman.
Tours begin every 30 minutes, starting from 11 am to 1 pm. Free admission
Assemble at the East Gate to Fort Monroe near Outlook Beach. Parking for this program is in the Outlook Beach parking lot located near the intersection of East Gate and Fenwick Road.
This program is hosted by Fort Monroe National Monument.
