Hampton Businesses are giving back to the community

Many local and small Hampton businesses are helping those in need during this time. From offering free meals to providing high demand goods and services to medical professionals and the public. During the first weeks of school closures restaurants including Anna’s Pizza in Buckroe and Mango Mangeaux offered free meals for kids. Businesses in Hampton have really stepped up to the plate to provide for those in need because of the pandemic.

Here are a few examples of other businesses that are giving back to the community during this time:

Rosie’s Gaming Emporium

Rosie’s has really stepped up to the plate. Rosie’s Gaming Emporiums, located in Hampton, Richmond, New Kent County and Vinton, and the Colonial Downs Racetrack also in New Kent County, will transition food preparation areas and employ kitchen staff to provide 20,000 meals for Virginians serving on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic. The Rosie’s Cares Community Heroes Meal program will serve police officers, doctors, nurses, firefighters, grocery store employees and all those who have stepped up to serve our fellow Virginians.

Beginning April 1, meals are being provided in each region in which we operate, in consultation with local officials and businesses serving the public during this period. For more information visit Rosie’s Gives Back website.

Juan’s Mexican Cafe and Cantina

As a way to thank Healthcare workers, Juan’s Mexican Cafe and Cantina is delivering meals to local hospitals for healthcare workers on the frontlines to enjoy. Juan’s is taking monetary donations from the public and then matching them in order to provide meals for the healthcare workers. Help Juan’s and “Adopt a Healthcare worker.” You can make a donation by calling the Hampton location at 757-826-8157 or by calling any of their 3 locations.

Vanguard Brewpub & Distillery

Along with other breweries in the region, The Vanguard Brewpub & Distillery in Downtown Hampton, began making hand sanitizer for the Hampton Roads community. Size and pricing of the sanitizer may vary as they are getting bottles from various sources around Hampton Roads. If you are a healthcare or emergency response employee in need of bulk, please send an email to  info@thevanguard757.com.
