The Hampton History Museum will host the free family event “Build the City: Minecraft Madness” where children become architects and builders to construct a large-scale model of downtown Hampton this Saturday, March 11, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The event, originally scheduled for Carousel Park, will now take place inside the museum.
Volunteers are needed for the March 11 event to assist families and teams of children in constructing the model of Downtown Hampton. No prior knowledge of Minecraft or Hampton architecture is necessary to patriciate, only a positive attitude and desire to inspire children’s creativity.
Boxes and recyclables needed
The Hampton History Museum also needs cardboard boxes and other reusable materials such as egg cartons and paper towel rolls that can be used in building the model of Downtown Hampton on March 11.
All sizes of boxes will be accepted though the need is great for smaller boxes such as for Girl Scout cookies, tea, toothpaste, cereal or others roughly smaller than a large shoe box.
The public is asked to bring gently used, clean materials to the museum at 120 Old Hampton Lane between 9:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m. before tomorrow, Wednesday, March 8.
For more information, or to recommend a source for boxes and recyclables, please contact museum educator Kris Peters at 757/727-6838 or email@example.com.
