02 | NekoCon 21 (Nov 2-4)

NekoCon 21 (Nov 2-4)The Hampton Roads Convention Center welcomes back over 3,000 otkau (fanboy’s and  fangirl’s) to NekoCon 21, a Japanese anime convention featuring everything from cosplay (a combination of the words costume and play) to L.A.R.P. (Live Action Role Playing) in which attendees dress up as their favorite anime characters and become part of the action. Members are welcome to attend various panels and workshops, purchase merchandise in the dealer's room, and be a part of main attractions like karaoke contests, art shows, and nightly dances. Friday: 12pm-2am Saturday: 9am-2am Sunday: 9am-4pm

05 | Smooth Jazz with Joe McBride and Paul Brown

Vocalist/keyboardist Joe McBride is an inspiration both on and off the stage. Having lost his eyesight as a teenager, McBride’s passion and dedication for music are evident in a career that spans nearly three decades. Guitarist Paul Brown has released six albums and brings his trademark deep funk and cool urban vibes to an eclectic R&B-driven sound.

Are you ready for a Monster Mash? Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein celebrates its 200th anniversary this year. Inspiring countless film and stage adaptations, Shelley’s thrilling tale of a monster brought to life is brilliantly re-imagined by Aquila Theater, which brings its bold and theatrical storytelling to Shelley’s frightening tale. Swiss scientist Victor Frankenstein succeeds in creating an artificial human, and after wandering the world alone, the monster eventually returns for redemption. Offering a unique performance style unlike any other interpretation, Aquila’s Frankenstein delivers a night at the theatre filled with chills, gasps, and plenty of theatrics.

Southeastern Guns & Knives Show (Nov 24-25)Southeastern Guns and Knives is an organized and legal gun show event that promotes understanding of the shooting sports, appreciation of American history, and an opportunity to view historic and contemporary weapons. A variety of people, from professionals to blue-collar workers, attend gun shows. Gun show patrons attend the shows as collectors, hobbyists, sportsmen, and hunters; many also attend because they are interested in home defense.
