04 | Fourth at the Fort - Flag Ceremony at Flag Bastion

Fourth at the Fort - Flag Ceremony at Flag BastionJoin us for this patriotic flag ceremony in observance of the anniversary of the death of President James Monroe at 10 a.m.. In partnership with the James Monroe Memorial Foundation. The celebration continues with a day full of activities, entertainment, and fireworks for the entire family.  This year we will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the NASA Langley Research Center as a part of the family friendly activities.  NASA Langley, as well as other local organizations will provide hands on activities and exhibits from 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at Fort Monroe. The evening will also showcase a live entertainment along with a fireworks show at sun down. Weather permitting.

SGK Gun Show & Prepper Expo (July 15-16)The gun show is an American tradition that traces its roots to the early days of our country's settlement, when hunters and trappers ended their season in a "rendezvous." Like those early meetings, the contemporary gun show is an event that allows participants to view, buy, sell, and trade a wide variety of shooting and sporting products.  Gun shows contain a mix of accessories and weaponry. Displays range from rare and collectible civil war weaponry to the most recent hunting and shooting products. General merchandise also found at the show include army surplus, shooting supplies, historical collectibles, and other forms of militaries. $10.00 Children 14 and younger are free and children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult 21 years or older

Annual Freaky Kon-Tiki Hampton River Raft RaceThe river raft race, presented by Bay Days, allows a team of five people to build a raft on-site and race other contestants around a course in the Hampton River. Each participant must be at least 14 years-old to compete.

Front Porch Music Series: The Muddy GemsThe Muddy Gems bring an eclectic evening of original music and cover tunes to the Hampton History Museum’s music series on Wednesday, July 19, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The Muddy Gems are husband and wife, John and Laurel Rockford. They combine guitar, flute, keyboards and percussion to their repertoire influenced by classic and alternative rock, as well as blues and folk highlighted by powerful male and female vocals. Their style is the result of a lifetime of musical influences ranging from folk, jazz and blues to modern pop. For this special museum performance, they will be accompanied by Matt Nichols on bass and congas.

Katt Williams: Great America TourLegendary stand-up comedian Katt Williams will bring the “Great America Tour” to Hampton Coliseum for a night full of laughs on Friday, July 28, 2017. With more than 20 years in entertainment, Katt Williams has developed a career seeded with thousands of stage shows in sold-out arenas, a laundry list of starring roles on the small screen and memorable performances in major box office hits. Williams has earned fans through his many hilarious stand-up specials, including “The Pimp Chronicles,” “It’s Pimpin’ Pimpin’,” “American Hustle” and “Priceless: Afterlife.” He is known to most for his breakout role on MTV’s “Wild ‘N Out” as well as his acting roles in Ice Cube’s “Friday After Next” and “First Sunday.” A Katt Williams "Event" is more than guaranteed laughter. 29 | Downtown Hampton Block Party- The Waiter’s Race

Downtown Hampton Block Party- The Waiter’s Race On Saturday, July 29, at 2:00 p.m., head to Downtown Hampton for the inaugural Waiters Race, presented by Sysco. Foodservice professionals will race through a series of obstacles holding a loaded tray of Stella Artois while trying not to spill a drop. In addition, there are cash prizes for the Men’s/Women’s Divisions (first place-$1000, second place-$500, third place-$250), a four-person Team Division (first place-$1200, second place-$600, third place-$400), and the Owners Division will win a traveling trophy (heavyweight championship belt!!). All participants must bring a current pay stub as proof of employment in a restaurant. Cost to participate is $10.00 in advance and $15.00 the day of event. The event is free for spectators. All registration fees will be donated to No Kid Hungry.
